What is the EarthChild Project?
The EarthChild Project is a Non-Profit Organisation operating in the Western Cape, South Africa. It offers complimentary education to under-resourced schools with a focus on the environment, health, self-development and leadership.
ECP is currently based at 8 schools in two under-resourced Cape Town communities, Khayelitsha and Lavender Hill. With the aim to create meaningful and sustainable change through their holistic and experiential education programmes, with a focus on life-skills, wellness, environment and leadership.
Working together with the teachers during class time, ECP brings their holistic and experiential approach to education into the classroom with yoga, mindfulness and life skills.
What is the purpose of ECP?
The purpose of ECP is to help create a world where individuals are inspired to connect to themselves, others and the environment. ECP believes that through increasing consciousness, we co-create this sense of Ubuntu.
Ubuntu - comes from the Zulu and Xhola languages, meaning "humanity towards others," and "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity."
My Earthchild Project fundraiser:
In August 2023, shortly after I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training, I set up my fundraiser for the Earthchild Project. To start my yoga teaching journey I offered classes around London for 4 months, with all profit going towards Earthchild.
Teaching Yoga and simultaneously raising funds for this cause was beyond fulfilling, it reminded me of how unifying this practice is.
Through my classes we raised over £800, this was enough to provide 80 children with weekly yoga classes for a whole year. I am so grateful to all of you who supported me in contributing to Earthchild, providing the practice of yoga to those children that need it most.
Thank you to the Earthchild Project for making this change possible.
